Hebburn Town boss Scott Oliver says his squad has been ‘savaged’ by injuries as their difficult start to the season continues.

Hebburn travel to Darlington RA tomorrow with doubts over goalkeeper Phil Holgate and midfielder Lee McMahon, while definitely missing are Chris Locke, Adam Ingram, Ali Downey, James Talbot, Marc Costello and Alan Pegram.

Oliver has signed former South Shields goalkeeper Steve Hubery, while Channon North, Shaun Reay and Ross Toward return after missing Tuesday’s 2-1 League Cup defeat against West Auckland.

“Everyone needs to realise results have been up and down due to the squad being savaged by injury,” said Oliver. “Every game, we lose a player to injury.

“Our luck has to turn – we battered West Auckland in the second half but we are just not getting the breaks.

“We are all working hard and the lads care about the situation.”
