South Shields tightened their grip on top spot in Northern League Division Two last night as they eased to a 3-0 win away to nearest rivals Chester-le-Street.

The result moved the Mariners eight points clear at the top of the table as they recorded an 11th victory in a row.

Ben Riding, Warren Byrne and Andrew Bulford grabbed the goals for Jon King’s side at Moor Park.

They are next in action on Saturday as they host Thornaby at Mariners Park.
