Pardew: Newcastle can end Chelsea run

CONFIDENT ... Alan Pardew.

ALAN Pardew is confident Newcastle United CAN bring Chelsea’s unbeaten start to the season to an end on Saturday – and continue Jose Mourinho’s St James’s Park hoodoo.

Mourinho’s side have dropped points in just three Premier League games this season, and the leaders are yet to be beaten.

However, Newcastle will be aiming for their third successive home win against Chelsea, while Mourinho is yet to win a league game at St James’s Park.

Although Chelsea have shown previous few weaknesses so far this term, Pardew says his side will be aiming to exploit any frailties they may have.

He said: “Mentally we are in a strong position and our confidence is high. We have good spirit and are learning lessons along the way.

“We need to threaten Chelsea because they look terrific. They are a great team who are strong and organised.

“Somewhere along the line Chelsea will slip up, and hopefully we can exploit any weaknesses they have.”
