Remy Cabella blow for injury-hit Newcastle

TALENTED ... Remy Cabella.
TALENTED ... Remy Cabella.

REMY Cabella is almost certainly out of tomorrow’s game against Manchester City.

The Newcastle United forward suffered a knee injury in training this week.

And head coach John Carver will err on the side of caution with Cabella when he selects his team for the Etihad Stadium clash.

“Cabella hurt his knee on Monday,” said Carver, who lost defender Paul Dummett to a long-term injury this week.

“He has a medial ligament strain. It’s not a serious issue, but it will almost certainly keep him out at the weekend.

“If he’s not 100 per cent, I would rather he missed one game than be out for 10 weeks, like Dummett.”

Meanwhile, winger Rolando Aarons – who scored in Newcastle’s Capital One Cup win at the Etihad Stadium in late October – is not yet ready to return.

The teenager has been sidelined since early November with a hamstring problem.

Aarons could return to training later this month.
