Shields urged to move on from cup defeat

The Mariners missed a succession of chances, and were punished as they conceded two penalties at the other end.

First-team coach David Hall said: “It was such a frustrating night, and we should have won the game comfortably with the chances we created.

“We can’t dwell on it, though, because we’ve got a big league game at home against Chester-le-Street on Saturday and promotion has to be our main aim this season.”
