NEWCASTLE United’s Siem de Jong will look to put himself in the frame for a first-team comeback at Villa Park tonight.
De Jong is in Peter Beardsley’s squad for the Under-21 Premier League game against Aston Villa (7pm kick-off).
The forward – who had an operation after suffering a collapsed lung two months ago – played 45 minutes for Beardsley’s side last week.
And de Jong, signed from Ajax last summer, is likely to be in the squad for Saturday’s must-win home game against Swansea City if he comes through the game unscathed.
Newcastle have lost thier last six Premier League games and need a victory to secure their Premier League status.
Adam Armstrong and Facundo Ferreyra are also in Beardsley’s squad.
