Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has fired a warning to Charlie Austin's suitors – including Newcastle United and Sunderland.
The North East duo are among a number of clubs that are considering a January move for the Queens Park Rangers striker.
But new Loftus Road manager Hasselbaink has told them that the 26-year-old won't come cheap – even though he is out of contract next summer.
Hasselbaink said: “You don’t pinch – he’s not going to be pinched.
“I’m looking forward to working with Charlie, and I’m looking forward to working with everyone else as well.
“Charlie is a very important individual at this club, but it’s a team game. I want to have a team.
“I don’t want individuals; you need a team and eventually teams win you titles. Individuals win just the game.”
Newcastle have a long-standing interest in Austin, but failed to sign him in the summer, while Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce wants to add firepower to his squad next month.
