DANNY Graham is on his way back to Sunderland after Wolves opted against extending the striker’s loan spell.
Graham joined the Championship outfit on a six-week loan spell last month and has netted once in six games for Kenny Jackett’s side.
Wolves had initially appeared keen to keep Graham at Molineux heading into the New Year, but he is now returning to the Stadium of Light after his loan spell concluded today.
“We haven’t extended Danny’s loan,” said Wolves boss Jackett.
“We thank him for what he did for us during his stay.
“With Nouha Dicko (Wolves striker) back fit and not being selected for the international squad we have decided not to extend the loan.
“Hopefully we have helped Danny as he has helped us in terms of building up that match practise again.”
Graham made a brief substitute’s appearance in the Capital One Cup for Sunderland earlier this season, but he hasn’t started a game for the Black Cats since May 2013.
Sunderland spent the summer trying to offload the £5million frontman and they are likely to look for another loan exit or permanent sale in the January transfer window, with another 18 months to run on the 29-year-old’s contract.
