David Moyes has named his first competitive Sunderland team - and Lamine Kone starts in central defence.

The 27-year-old centre-back is wanted by Everton and slapped in a transfer request this week ahead of Moyes confirming he would be offered a new deal - on September 1.

There had been doubts as to whether he would start the game but he does in central defence alongside Younes Kaboul.

Moyes has also named Lynden Gooch for his top flight debut, with new signing Donald Love starting at right-back.

Wahbi Khazri and Jeremain Lens start the new season on the bench.
