Sunderland have been made favourites for the drop this season - by their own club sponsors!
Leading global betting brand Dafabet took over as the Black Cats’ principal partner in the summer and after just two weeks of the new campaign have already made Dick Advocaat’s side favourites for relegation.
The Black Cats were trounced 4-2 by Leicester City on the opening day before following that up with a 3-1 hammering at home to Norwich City at the Stadium of Light.
As a result, Sunderland have been made favourites to drop down into the Championship come the end of the season.
Dafabet have them at 5/8 favourites to be relegated, ahead of Watford 11/10, Bournemouth (6/5) and Norwich City (5/4) - the top flight’s newest members.
As part of the agreement, the Dafabet name is emblazoned on the Black Cats’ home and away shirts from the start of the 2015-16 season.
Since its foundation in 2004, Dafabet has grown its market share to become one of the leading global betting brands with their key markets being Asia and the UK, meaning the partnership affords Sunderland the opportunity to continue to grow its presence in the Asian territories.
