JACK RODWELL will return to the Sunderland squad for tomorrow’s visit of Crystal Palace after recovering from injury.

Rodwell missed last weekend’s Wear-Tyne derby with a hamstring problem, but as the Echo reported earlier this week, it was only a minor knock and boss Dick Advocaat confirmed today that the £10million midfielder will be fit to face Palace.

It is a timely return to action from Rodwell, with fellow midfielder Seb Larsson serving the first game of a two-match ban.

Rodwell is likely to come straight back into the side in place of Larsson, although Advocaat also has Liam Bridcutt and Adam Johnson available as contrasting options.
