Sunderland suffer injury blow as key defender goes off against Lincoln City
Sunderland could be facing yet another defensive injury blow - after Denver Hume was withdrawn in the early stages of the play-off clash at Lincoln City.
Hume lasted just ten minutes of the tie at Sincil Bank before going down and receiving treament.
The full-back, who returned from a long-term injury towards the end of the regular campaign, was withdrawn and replaced by Callum McFadzean.
Hume, an academy graduate, was able to walk off the field and Sunderland will hope that the injury is not a long-term one.
However, the club do have options in that area of the field – with McFadzean and Jake Vokins both able to provide cover and competition at left-back.
The Black Cats already have a number of senior defenders ruled-out of action, with Dion Sanderson, Arbenit Xhemajli and Jordan Willis all absent.
Conor McLaughlin also missed the play-off semi final at Lincoln after he too recently returned from injury.
