Tony Mowbray’s hoping Adam Armstrong’s number won’t be up at Coventry City in January.

The forward, on a half-season loan from Newcastle United, has scored 12 goals for the League One leaders.

We’re in contact with them almost on a daily basis, at least a weekly basis. We send Adam’s training data, match stats, what he’s doing all like sprints and runs things like that – all those sorts of stats.

And Mowbray – whose staff have been sending back detailed data on Armstrong – hopes to extend the loan beyond January 16.

Asked about a loan extension, Coventry manager Mowbray said: “I think those discussions are ongoing.

“We’re in contact with them almost on a daily basis, at least a weekly basis.

“We send Adam’s training data, match stats, what he’s doing all like sprints and runs things like that – all those sorts of stats.

“We talk on the phone about what he’s doing, but any talk of an extension will intensify as we get closer to the time.

“It’s nice to have a player who gives you a threat like that.”
