GEORGIA Campbell, from the home club, was an impressive winner of the women’s title in South Shields Harriers’ Sand Dancer Mixed Terrain 10km race on Sunday.

Campbell finished a tremendous 23rd overall in a mixed field of 397 with 38:10, leading the team to another victory.

Melanie Cooke-Dunlop was 14th in 44:52, with Gillian Nichol 21st in 46:52 as Shields were six points ahead of Blackhill Bounders AC, Consett.

Claire Simpson finished second in 38:49, with Elaine Leslie 34th in 39:16 and Tracey Emmett 42nd in 55:44 as Jarrow and Hebburn AC were fifth team.

Shields’ Amy Bound was 26th in 47:52, with Alison Bone 32nd in 48:17 and Nicola Myers 44th in 50:51.

Lesley Downey was 50th in 52:32 and first over-55, with Amanda Wilson 55th in 55:52 and Patricia White 64th in 57:34, and first over-60.

Stephanie Doxford was 69th in 58:27, with Jarrow’s Andrea Toop 79th in 74:52.

Andy Burn, from the Jarrow club, was in the early breakaway quartet, but late entrant Ian Harding, of Morpeth, gained a winning lead in the final mile.

Despite a fierce wind lashing off the sea over the coastal paths of the Leas, Harding clipped 1:20 off the course record of Durham’s Ian Crampton in 2009 with 31:48.

Burn was also inside the old mark with an excellent 32:10.

Kevin Emmett was a prominent ninth in 35:41 and first over-45, with David Shearan 49th in 41:20 as Jarrow finished fourth team.

Mark Hodgson was 10th in 36:12, with Paul Stewart 12th in 36:55 and Mark Wilson 21st in 37:55 as Shields were second team, 14 points behind Sunderland.

Scott Capewell was 24th in 38:16, with Mike Jones 35th in 39:19 and third over-50, and Jamie Ward 38th in 39:26.

David Myers was 44th in 40:19, with Jonathan Balmer 47th in 40:49 and Jarrow’s Ian Salkeld 53rd in 41:54.

Shields’ Mark Wood was 54th in 41:56, with Peter Walker 58th in 42:06 and first over-60, and Tony Walker was 79th in 42:47.

Mark Joyce finished 97th in 44:17, with Scott Nichol 113th in 45:16 and Brian Henderson 116th in 45:27, and seventh over-55, and Tom Davies 123rd in 45:51.

Alan Bone was 146th in 47:14 and first over-65, with Jarrow’s Andrew Hudson 157th in 47:51 and Barry Pascoe 199th in 52:44, and second over-65.

Shields’ Arthur Potter was 269th in 56:25 and fifth over-70, with Ken Mcdonald 293rd in 59:58 and sixth over-70, and George Pratt 311th in 62:38, and fifth over-65.

Shields’ Kieran Moffat, aged 15 and from the under-17 category, won the junior run with 11:12 for the two miles course.

Jarrow’s James Martin was first in the under-15 age group with 11:50, and Shields’ Ryan Stewart was first under-13 in 13:12.

Franki Salter, aged 16, was first under-17 girl in 12:21, with Jarrow’s Kate Emmett first under-13 in 13:52.
