Luke Adams, off the back mark, ímproved into third in South Shields Harriers’ second yacht handicap of the six monthly series in midweek.
Adams recorded the fastest time of the night, with 19:06 for the 3.5 miles Bents Park course.
Colin Robson overhauled Darren Lough to finish first.
Paul Stewart, in fifth, was second fastest in 20:02 from Michael Todd 18th in 20:50.
Rachel Breheny was the fastet woman in 14th, with 22:31 from Claire O’Callaghan, sixth in 23:26 and Suzanne Gutcher 30th in 23:49.
Diminutive Alexander Weston, aged eight, prevailed against his older rivals to win the junior race over 1.2 miles.
Kyla Derbyshire was second with Aaron Smith third.
Katie Wood, ín ninth, finished with the fastest time of 7:00 beating all of the boys.
Ryan Stewart. was second fastest in 11th, with 7:09 from Jamie Robinson sixth in 7:23.
Ellis McDougall, 12th in 7:40, was the second fastest girl.
Dave Triplow and Scott Nichol won South Shields Harriers Annual Parlaul Race on Boxing Day at Gypsies Green Stadium. They recorded 12:39 for the two laps over two miles in the Scandinavian-orientatated two-person relay.
Jonny Evans and Bill Humphrey were second in 12:57, with Jamie Ward and Gary McAlinden third in 13:11.
Morpeth Harriers h0ld their 11km Road Race on New Year’s Day at 1pm.
Held over a scenic, quíet course for traffic, it goes through Mitford village and finishes in Morpeth Park.
Changing, registration and the presentation are in the Morpeth Clubhouse, Mitford Road.
Hartlepóol Burn Road Harriers stage their Old Monks Five Miles Race Sunday.
Registration is in Hart Village Hall for a 11am start.
Park Runs again take pace over 5km at 9am tomorrow (Saturday).
South Shields, Newcastle, Sunderland, Gateshead, Whitley Bay, Chester le Street and Durham all hold events.
