South Shields Harriers’ Luke Adams reeled off his second victory in successive weeks in the South Shields Park Run on Saturday.
Adams, and George Lowry from Jarrow and Hebburn AC, made an early break over the 5km course on the Leas, and were still together at the Velvet Beds, Marsden turn.
Continuimg to match strides, the pair approached the finishing section, but Adams opened up a winning gap of 15 seconds in 16:03.
Lowry was second in a personal best time of 16:18, with Heaton’s Lucas Longman third in 16:46.
Shields’ Ríchard Harrison was fourth in 18:12, wíth Jarrow’s Jonny Evans surprisingly back ín fifth with 18:22.
Shields’ Kíeran Moffat, aged 15, was 10th in 19:10, with Paul Owen 16th in a PB of 20:00, and Colin Robson 18th in 20:26.
Jarrow’s David Shearan was 21st in 20:40, with Shields’ Tommy Copp 45th in 22:30 and first over 65.
Jarrow’s Mike McNally finished 46th in 22:33 and fifth over 50, with Shields’ Craig Robe 47th in 22:34 and Brían Henderson 55th in 23:07 and third over 55.
David Robertson was 72d in 25:31, with Jarrow’s Joe Prudham 84th in 26:43 and first over 75. Shields’ Matthew Cowie, aged 11, was 93rd in a PB of 27:39, with Duncan Storey 103rd in 29:02 and Owen McGarrell 130th in 37:26 and fifth over 55.
Ría Chaston, of Saltwell Harriers, finished 23rd overall in a mixed field of 138 and was first in the women’s section in 20:46.
Shields’ Emily Charlton, 15, was 22nd in 29:52, with Amar Deep Sudan 30th in 37:23 and first over 55.
Shields’ Jonathan Balmer finished an excellent second in the Gateshead Park run on Saturday.
Blaydon’s Matthew Alderson was first in 18:32, with Balmer recording 19:14.
Shields’ Alyson West finished third woman ín the Sunderland Park run on Saturday.
West clocked 24:16 for the 5km over the paths through the Silksworth Sports Centre and was first over 45.
