None of Steve McClaren’s players stopped in the post-game mixed zone after Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Bournemouth.

Goalscorer Ayoze Perez was made available to fee-paying rights-holders for interview.

The forward also spoke to the club’s website after the game, which left the club second-bottom of the Premier League and a point adrift of safety.

But none of the other players stopped in the mixed zone to offer fans an explanation of what had happened on the pitch.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth’s former Newcastle midfielder Dan Gosling told of his “great feeling” after the match.

“It was a massive win for us,” said Gosling, who left the club in 2014 after a frustrating four years on Tyneside.

“To go to a stadium like that and play the football that we did is fantastic.

“It’s a great feeling looking at the table but there are still a lot of games to come.”
