Tim Krul drops hint on future as Newcastle draw up new deal

Krul suffered a season-ending knee injury last October playing for Holland.

And the goalkeeper – who hopes to be fit for the start of next season – had to watch in frustration from the sidelines as the club battled to stay in the Premier League.

Krul has a year left on his Newcastle deal, and United – who beat Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 on the final day of the season – will now address his contractual situation.

For his part, Krul has hinted that he will stay at the club for and attempt to help it win promotion from the Championship.

The 28-year-old today issued a statement on Twitter reflecting on a troubled and troubling season at St James’s Park.

Krul said: “Yesterday was a great result for the club in what has been an otherwise incredibly frustrating and disappointing season both for the club and me personally.

“I am still finding it hard to come to terms with what has happened this season and it’s been devastating for me that I haven’t been able to help us sustain our Premier League status due to injury.

“On a personal level, over the past week or so I have been making big strides in the right direction by training outside with the physio and goalkeeping coach as I continue towards full fitness.

“The fans have been incredible and deserve success.

“Everyone at the club will be fighting to get Newcastle United back into the Premier League where it belongs.”
