Hebburn Town boss full of praise for attacking output after comfortable midweek win

In-form striker Cedwyn Scott scored four times to continue his purple patch of form and substitute Olly Martin came off the bench to grab a brace as their side moved seven points clear at the top of the Northern League Division One table.

The Hornets were at their best in Northumberland as took their league goal tally to 45 and made it 21 in their last three games.

That tally could have increased if it hadn’t been for an impressive display from Ashington goalkeeper Adam McHugh, who drew praise from Bolam for making a number of “fantastic” saves during the game.

He told The Gazette: “The attacking play and the service to Cedwyn is exceptional and the lads have got to take a lot of credit for that.

“We are creating chances and we created a lot tonight.

“Going forward, we looked very strong and the movement and passing was very good.

“I made a point of going to see their goalkeeper after the game because he’s made one of the best saves I have seen for a long time tonight.

“In fairness to him, he made another two or three fantastic stops and had a very good game.”

Hebburn now turn their focus towards Saturday’s home game against Northallerton Town as they look to secure an eighth consecutive win in all competitions.

Bolam admitted that he could make a number of changes for the game as he continues to contend with a hectic fixture list.

“I did say to the lads that we would have to start shuffling the pack around six weeks ago,” explained Bolam.

“We have played three games in seven days for a considerable number of weeks and these lads aren’t robots.

“Yes, we have a core of lads that will play a little bit more than others.

“But if we get knocks, or need to change things around, we know we have a very good squad of players that are challenging each other.

“Olly Martin has come on and scored twice, he’s not far away, and Carl Taylor came on and did well, he’s not far away from a start.

“It’s a good situation to have.”
