The 19-year-old caught the eye with his performances in the Mariners’ academy after joining the club in 2017, and quickly caught the eye of the Terriers.

McCamley joined Huddersfield in 2019, but has now returned to the 1st Cloud Arena on a loan deal until January – having spent a short spell on loan with Hyde United last season.

Speaking after the deal was agreed, Shields joint manager Lee Picton said: "We know Will very well from our time overseeing the academy and he was always someone we were keen to keep a careful eye on moving forwards.

"When the opportunity came to bring him in on loan we felt he would give us an added really interesting option in a wide area.

"Personality-wise, we know Will will be a really good fit for our dressing room and club, and we really look forward to him putting on a Shields shirt again and being an eye-catching player for the fans to watch."

McCamley is yet to make a senior appearance for Shields, but was a key part of the under-18 squad that embarked on a run to the second round of the FA Youth Cup during the 2018/19 season.

The winger did come close to making his senior bow when named on the bench for an FA Cup tie against Garforth in September 2018 – but will be hoping to rack-up plenty of first-team experience during his loan spell.
