With a break in league action this weekend, South Shields’ first-team players will take a much needed rest in time for next weekend’s trip to strugglers Seaton Carew.

However, South Shields second XV and third XV are still in action as the second team travel to Blyth RFC in River Blyth league action tomorrow.

Both sides are yet to win a competitive game this season, so this is set up to be a cracker.

The Mariners will have Paul Nancarrow, Kristian Summerside and Lee McKeith available in the front row, with Ray Johnson at No2.

George Richardson, Jay Oxley and Kez Miller will all be looking to start with the impressive Paul barker at No8.

Liam Newall, who has been left frustrated so far this season due to a lack of game time, will be given his chance to shine, while Campbell Dooley returns after his impressive performance against Jarrovians two weeks ago.

Jack Kennedy will start at No12 with Ray Brooks and Paul Munro also coming in.

Grant Borrill is also available, with Connor Moir and Craig Gardner also looking for a starting place.

The club’s third XV are also in action as they make the short trip to Lukes Lane to face Jarrovians II.

New boys Klaus Dohrn and Carlos Mut Morei are set to make their club debuts, while Paul Spencer comes in to make only his second appearance for the club.

Hugh Jones and Aaron Arkley return, while Tom Brooks, Tony Wileman, Michael Gibson and Phill Robson could all be involved at some point. Steven Lockney could be given more game time in the front row.

Both games kick off at 3pm with the 2nd XV at Blyth RFC (NE24 3LE) and the 3rd XV at Jarrovians RUFC (NE31 2BB).
