Taking part in a Boxing Day Dip is a fantastic way to blow away the cobwebs after your slap-up turkey lunch and a few sherries – and if this sounds like it's up your street, we have everything you need to know about this year’s event in South Shields, in aid of Cancer Connections.

The charity’s Boxing Day Dip takes place each year at Littlehaven Beach and attracts dozens of keen punters from across the town and beyond to take the plunge.

The costumes are colourful, spirits are high and the weather is always, always cold. But it’s a great morning out and a wonderful way to raise money for a cause close to your family’s heart.
