Earlier this month it was revealed that stadium bosses were in talks with promoters to stage a concert, the first at the home of the Black Cats since the Spice Girls in 2019.

Eagle-eyed fans have already spotted the distinctive E with a star logo and have started speculating on the Rocket Man performing at the stadium.

Global superstar Sir Elton has had hit after hit over the years, including Rocket Man, I’m Still Standing, Candle In The Wind, Don’t Go Breaking My Heart, Can You Feel The Love Tonight and many more.
His colourful life story was brought to the small screen in 2019 in the hit film Rocketman starring Taron Egerton.
Over the years, the club has worked with the country’s biggest promoters to bring global stars to the home of the Black Cats, including Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen, Oasis, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Coldplay, Rihanna and more, with a total of 20 concerts staged over 10 years.
The stadium gigs are a huge boost to the city, attracting national media attention, and bringing in an estimated £3.5million in visitor spending to the local economy.
