The Bents Park is once again the venue of choice for organisers Philip and Maxwell Sheeran.

The pair are putting the finishing touches to the movie list ahead of the first showing on Saturday, October 24.

The Drive-In Movies will run until November 15.

Films – which will include Grease, Minions, Beetlejuice amongst others – will be projected on to a big screen and audio will be transmitted through an FM radio signal.

Previous events have been a huge success which is why we decided to bring it back.

Mr Sheeran said: “We are just putting the finishing touches to the movie list, which will be announced in a few days.

“Previous years have been a huge success, which is why we decided to bring it back. This year we hope it to be even bigger and better.

“A website will be launched over the next few days where people will be able to buy their tickets, see what films are playing as well as competitions and giveaways.

“We have chosen films to cater for all age groups.”

Visitors will be able to drive into the park and it is believed there is space for about 200 cars for each showing.

The movie event is also aiming to help give the Mayor’s Charity a funding boost.

This year, the Mayor’s Charity is supporting Cancer Connections, Great North Air Ambulance and Alzheimer’s Society South Tyneside Branch.

Coun Richard Porthouse, said: “A drive-in movie is a night out with a difference and is a fantastic opportunity to get a taste of America in South Shields.

“I would like to thank Ocean Beach for donating some of the proceeds from the sale of tickets to the Mayor’s Charity this year.

“This is a great incentive, so come along and get your popcorn at the ready for a great night at the movies.”

Tickets for the movies, priced £20 per car, on sale soon, will be available from Ocean Beach Pleasure Park or online.
