DAVE Mustain and company shocked fans and critics alike with 2009’s Endgame, a brash, aggressive upturn which represented one of the thrash veterans’ finest ever achievements.
By contrast, 2011’s Th1rt3en was a major disappointment, its stale riffs and lack of inspiration more in tune with what you’d expect from a band whose peak occurred more than two decades ago.
If anything, this follow-up is even worse - the quartet’s generic musicianship marred even further by their leader’s tired songwriting and at times embarrassing lyrical refrains.
Sections of their fanbase may find something to cling to, but Super Collider truly does mark the end of a thrilling, but short-lived revival. 5/10. AW
