MEMBERS of a young South Tyneside band are looking forward to putting out their first EP.
Far Pacific are hard at work in the studio recording a collection of original songs.
The group – made up of James Fawdon, Matthew Keedy, Patrick Gosling and Aaron Fitzakerly – are hoping to release the EP in February, next year.
Guitarist James, from Boldon, said: “We’re recording it at Miner’s Hall, in Sunderland, and we’re looking forward to getting it finished and for people to hear it.
“It’s all original songs. We do sometimes sit down together to try and write a song, but most of them just come from us playing together and messing around.
“It’s very much a band effort we come up with the music and then Patrick puts words to it.
“We like writing about things that go on around us, people we meet, and things that happen to us.”
The 16-year-old added: “I’ve played in a band with Matty for about four years, but we’ve been together as Far Pacific for a year now.
“We usually get a good reaction for our original songs and it’s always good to see. Some people say to us that they like our original songs better than our covers, and that’s a huge compliment for us, because we really like the covers we do.
“Some people come to gigs when we’re supporting another band and they expect us to do covers, but if you get the right atmosphere, it’s great to do our original songs.
“We’re all excited about the EP, but we’re nervous because we want to make sure we get the songs right.
“We would love to be signed by a label and play music together full-time, but realistically, we need to concentrate on finishing school first.”
