A chart-topping debut album might be a tough act to follow, but Collabro star Jamie Lambert is excited about giving it a go as his group’s second LP hits shelves today.
The boys have released Act Two within a year of winning Britain’s Got Talent and only 10 months after its predecessor, Stars, came out.
The group – also made up of Matt Pagan, Thomas J Redgrave, Richard Hadfield and Michael Auger – have also announced their second UK tour, and it kicks off in February next year.
Collabro are playing 27 shows across the UK, including a local gig for Jamie at the Sage Gateshead on Monday, March 14.
Washington lad Jamie, the son of South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust chief executive Lorraine Lambert, said: “A massive amount of tickets have all ready been sold for the shows.
“I think a lot of people who are buying tickets came to see our last tour and wanted to come back.
“We’re playing more venues this time, including the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Sage, and it’s going to be great to get back out there to perform for our fans.”
The band’s debut LP, including covers of Stars and Bring Him Home from the musical Les Miserables and Let It Go from hit Disney film Frozen, reached the No1 spot in the UK and achieved gold status after selling more than 100,000 copies.
Act Two is also made up of songs from musicals and films and pop crossovers, including I Dreamed A Dream, also from Les Miserables, Music of the Night from The Phantom of the Opera and Circle of Life from The Lion King. Jamie, 24, a former worker at South Tyneside District Hospital in South Shields, added: “I’m really excited. We absolutely love this album.
“It’s definitely a growth from the last one and is bigger and better.
