The man behind legendary 1970s rock band ELO is bringing his latest live show to the North east.

Jeff Lynne is about to deliver Alone In The Universe, the first new ELO album in 15 years, this Friday.

Today he's announced a 10-date UK tour, including a show at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle on Thursday, April 14, next year.

Last year he played a headline set of ELO classics at BBC Radio 2's Festival In A Day in London's Hyde Park, to a sold-out crowd of 50,000 fans.

Jeff Lynne’s ELO will be performing a live set for BBC Radio 2 In Concert on Thursday at the BBC Radio Theatre in London, presented by Jo Whiley and is also confirmed to play the Royal Variety Performance, which will be screened on ITV in early December.

Lynne continues to serve as ELO’s producer, songwriter, arranger, lead singer and guitarist, and the new album has already received rave reviews.

With a style that innovatively blended rock, pop and classical music, ELO had 26 UK Top 40 singles, and sold more than 50 million records worldwide.

Lynne was a co-founder and member of The Travelling Wilburys with Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, George Harrison and Tom Petty.

He was also a producer and collaborator with some of the biggest names in music including The Beatles, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Joe Walsh, and most recently, Bryan Adams.

Tickets for his arena show, priced £50, £65, £80, £90 and £110, will go on sale at 9am on Friday from the booking hotline 0844 493 6666, online HERE or in person from the Metro Radio Arena Box Office from 10am.
