Sam Clark is through to the grand final of singing contest Teen Star.

A talented singer is hoping South Tyneside will get behind him as he heads to the national final of a singing contest.

Sam Clark will be competing for the top prize in Teen Star this weekend.

The 17-year-old, of Baltic Court, South Shields, will take to the stage at the Birmingham NEC tomorrow in the hope of seeing off the competition from around the UK.

Sam was one of four out of 20 contestants to make the cut at the area final of the singing contest in Huddersfield last month.

The music production and technology student at Newcastle College, won his place in the grand final with his rendition of Jason Derulo’s Want To Want Me.

He’s hoping to wow judges at the final with his performance of Sugar by Maroon 5.

He said: “I feel absolutely prepared for the final. I’ve been gigging nearly every weekend and doing festivals to get myself ready for it.

“I’m feeling really confident, and it’s all or nothing now, it’s not about getting through to the next round, it’s about winning or going home with nothing. And I just want to go up there and win it.”

Previous winners of the contest include X Factor finalists Luke Friend and Lucy Spraggan, who have gone on to sign recording contracts.

Prizes include £5,000, recording studio time and singing lessons.

Performing is what I really love to do and I can’t imagine doing anything other than being a singer.
