A host of North-East bands is set to kick off a tribute festival in South Shields next month.

The Fake Festival is coming to Bents Park, in Sea Road, on Saturday, August 29.

We are really lucky to have such talented musical artists in the region, and we were not short of applicants this year.

The outdoor event is set to feature Oasish, The Fillers and Space Cowboy, who pay tribute to Oasis, The Killers and Jamiroquai respectively.

The acts will be joined on stage by four local support bands, who were chosen from hundreds of applicants to play the gig.

The Face, The Shakes, Sun Dance and Hip Hop Hooray will take to the stage before the tribute acts have their turn.

Bec Evans, licensee for the event, said: “We are really lucky to have such talented musical artists in the region, and we were not short of applicants this year.”

The event is coming to South Shields for the first time following on from the success it has had in nearby towns.

Bec added:“Following on from the success of other North East fake festivals in Tynemouth, Whickham and Chester-le-Street, we were very excited to be given the opportunity by South Tyneside Council to bring one of our events to Bents Park.

“Bents Park is a great venue with a history of delivering brilliant live music, and we have an awesome line-up of world-class tributes to build on that reputation.

“I believe South Shields and Bents Park will be a brilliant addition to the Fake Festivals calendar, and it will be a fantastic way to finish the summer.”

Tickets cost £18 for adults, £10 for young people, £46 for a family, and entry is free to children aged nine and under.
