Teenage singer Sam Clark is hoping he’s on the road to stardom after making it to the final of a national contest.
The 17-year-old, of Baltic Court, South Shields, has earned a spot in the grand final of Teen Star next month.
Sam was one of four out of 20 contestants to make the cut at the area final of the singing contest in Huddersfield at the weekend.
He said: “I really didn’t think I had any chance of getting through.
“When they came out on stage and said that only four out of the 20 of us were going through I thought I had absolutely no chance, and when they said my name I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t know whether to laugh, cry or scream.”
Sam, a music production and technology student at Newcastle College, won his place in the grand final with his rendition of Jason Derulo’s Want To Want Me.
Now, he’ll head to the Birmingham NEC for the final on July 25.
Previous winners of the contest include X Factor finalists Luke Friend and Lucy Spraggan, who have gone on to sign recording contracts.
Prizes include £5,000 , recording studio time and singing lessons.
Sam added: “It’s an absolutely massive stage in Birmingham and I can’t believe I’ve going to perform on it.

“I don’t think it’s sunk in yet that I’m in the final. I’m just over the moon about it, I can’t believe it.
“I don’t know for sure how many people are competing, but I think it’s about 10.
“I’m not even nervous, I’m just excited. I’ve already decided that I’m going to sing Sugar by Maroon 5 and started practicing.
