ENERGETIC alternative rockers The Vaccines gave fans a hefty dose of sound as they landed in Wearside for a special gig.
Fans crammed into Sunderland’s Pop Recs store as the platinum-selling Londoners performed an intimate-yet-exhilarating half-hour set as part of their UK tour.
The band blasted the crowd with hits including If You Wanna, Teenage Icon and Post Break-up Sex, as well as tracks from their new album American Graffiti, which is released in May.
The Vaccines’ gig came just hours after a similarly special performance at the venue by The Cribs, making the day a double success for the Fawcett Street store.
Pop Recs is the brainchild of Wearside’s own Frankie & The Heartstrings, who have already brought a host of big names including Franz Ferdinand, The Charlatans and Badly Drawn Boy to the store.
Legendary Inspiral Carpets frontman Tom Hingley is the record store’s next confirmed act, with a gig set for Easter Sunday - April 5.
The Vaccines are also performing to a sell-out crowd in Hartlepool tonight at the town’s Borough Hall.
