A THEATRE group is going Grimm for its latest production.
The youth section of the Westovian Theatre Society is preparing to perform A Selection of Grimms’ Fairy Tales.

The show runs at the Westovian Theatre in Pier Parade, South Shields, from Wednesday, April 15, to Saturday, April 18.
The aspiring actors are taking on the tales of Rumpelstiltskin, Hansel and Gretel and Godfather Death.
Director Connor Woods said: “This is my first time directing a play and I’m really excited about it.
“We’ve had to put it together in quite a short time but it’s coming together nicely and everyone is working very hard.
“We decided on the three stories because we wanted to pick some of the more popular ones, and when we were looking through the others, we found Godfather Death and thought it fitted with the progression of the show really well.
“Rumplestiltskin is centred on birth, Hansel and Gretel is about growing up and Godfather Death seemed to end it well.”
The 19-year-old, from South Shields, added: “Directing has been a big challenge for me. There have been a lot of long days working on the show but it’s been very rewarding.
“The show is a good mixture and we’ve got parts that are funny and some that are quite dramatic.
“We’re really trying to push the dramatic side more with the actors. For a lot of them, this is their first time on stage and young actors can sometimes be more used to comedy so this is a good challenge.
“I think the Grimm fairy tales are so popular because the messages are timeless and speak to all generations.”
Tickets cost from £4. To book before April 14, call 424 7788, and after April 15, call 456 0980.
