Funnyman Jason Cook has revealed the line up for his first comedy club of the new year.
A host of comics will take to the stage at the Customs House, in South Shields, on Saturday, February 6.
Jason, creator and star of BBC2 sitcom Hebburn, launched his own Comedy Club at the Mill Dam theatre last month.
The sold-out show will be followed by a New Year’s Eve special, which will also see a capacity crowd.
The February show will welcome comedians from around the world.
Daliso Chaponda, from Malawi, has travelled the globe performing stand-up and is one of the most in-demand acts on the international scene.
I’ve worked with Daliso pretty much everywhere and he tears up audiences every single time, it’s a real pleasure to have him come to our club and I’m very excited to see what he’s got in store for us.Jason Cook
He’ll be joined on stage by Leeds comic Peter Brush and Canadian Tanyalee Davis, who now lives in Las Vegas.
Jason, from Hebburn, said: “I’ve worked with Daliso pretty much everywhere and he tears up audiences every single time, it’s a real pleasure to have him come to our club and I’m very excited to see what he’s got in store for us.
“When it comes to Peter, some comedians you see and you know they are destined for great things. With an original voice and a completely unassuming stage presence, Peter makes me annoyed at my own lack of invention when I hear his amazingly crafted material.
“He was in my top 10 people to book for the club when I first thought of opening it, I love the kid.
“I’ve known Tanyalee for about a decade and was very lucky to be able to persuade her to come and do the show.
“The following week she is starting a run of her tour show in London’s West End but she agreed to fly over a little early to come play for us. You’ll have seen her recently doing stand up on John Bishop’s BBC show. A real firecracker, I got a tingle in my tummy when we got this booking sorted.”
The show will also include comedic news broadcast, Newa From The North, which last time saw Jason poke fun at a story about alternative energy.
Tickets for the 7.45pm show cost £9. To book, go to www.customshouse.co.uk or call the box office on 0191 454 1234.
