A TALENTED dancer from South Tyneside is getting in line for her latest role.
Kirby Campbell is starring as Bebe in a new production of West End and Broadway hit A Chorus Line.
The 24-year-old, of St George’s Avenue, South Shields, said the show is one she’s always wanted to be part of.
Kirby, who enrolled at the London Studio Centre when she was 16, said: “I saw A Chorus Line on the West End and absolutely loved it.
“It was one of those shows that straight away I thought I’d love to be a part of.
“I heard about these auditions from a friend and went along and was so pleased when I found out I’d been cast.”
The show runs at the Tyne Theatre and Opera House, in Westgate Road, Newcastle, from May 27 to 30. I
It is being staged by North East-based Nice Swan Theatre Company.
The musical follows 17 Broadway dancers auditioning for spots on a chorus line in a musical and is set on the bare stage of a Broadway theatre.
Kirby, who has also performed on cruise ships and in Germany, added: “This is such a great show and it lets people see what it’s like to audition for a show from the perspective of the dancers.
“Some people think it’s really easy and that you just turn up, dance, and get the part, but it’s a really hard process and A Chorus Line shows how easily people are turned away.
“I’ve always wanted to be in a West End musical, and although this isn’t in the West End, it’s that type of show.
“It’s great that it’s close to home as well because it means that all of my friends and family can come along to see me – no doubt my mam will be there every night.
“I met the rest of the cast the other day and everyone seems really lovely and so talented so I know it’s going to be a great show.”
