A MUSICAL theatre group is looking for the stars of its next show.

The South Tyneside Academy of Performing Arts (Stamp) is getting ready to stage The Wedding Singer.

The musical, which follows wedding singer Robbie Hart, is based on the 1998 film of the same name, starring Adam Sandler.

The group will perform the show on May 23, next year, at Brinkburn Community Association, in Harton Lane, South Shields, but first it needs to find its stars.

Auditions, open to girls and boys aged 13 to 19, will be held at Brinkburn CA, on Saturday, January 10.

Stamp co-director and show director, Christopher Perry, said: “We wanted to do this show because it’s something a little bit different, and it hasn’t been done around here for a long time so we thought it would be good to revive it.

“It’s a really fun show with lots of comedy and lots of great one-liners, and I think teenagers and adults will love it.

“We’re looking to cast every role, and we desperately need more boys to come along and get involved.

“Anyone who is interested in singing, dancing and acting and wants to get involved is welcome to come along to audition, even if they’ve never done anything like this before.”

Bosses at Stamp are also looking to cast young people, aged six and over, to star in a stage version of Disney’s Aladdin. Rehearsals will start in January.

Anyone hoping to audition for either show should book a slot by going to www.st-amp.co.uk
