More people than ever before will be adopting a vegan diet this month as part of Veganuary.

If you’re struggling to find vegan snacks and meals in South Tyneside, we’ve rounded up some of the places that offer it as part of their wider menu, from the headline-hitting Greggs and chain pubs to independent cafe Hive at Jarrow Hall.

Last year ice cream company Minchella & Co launched a full vegan and dairy-free menu to meet increasing demand from customers. Owners say the response to their vegan and dairy-free range which includes traditional favourites such as the knickerbocker glory made from dairy-free Madagascan vanilla ice cream has “exceeded expectations”.
A charming coffee shop within Jarrow Hall, Hive offers plenty of vegan and vegetarian choices such as avocado on toast with lemon, paprika and chilli and vegan soups.

Zeera has one of the most extensive vegan menus in the area, where you can pick up vegan thali, vegan wine and a host of dishes such as Eggless Onion Bhaji and Adraki Gobi.
