Big Local Central Jarrow will be celebrating International Day of Older Persons by holding a social afternoon for over-50s.
The afternoon, which takes place at Jarrow Civic Hall, will focus on older people within the community, with a two course lunch, entertainment and bingo.
South Shields-born singer Mea Deen will be treating the over-50s audience to his talents to say thank you to the amazing contribution they make to the Jarrow community.
The United Nations set up the International Day for Older Persons for October 1 and claim it is now more important than ever to consider older people in our communities, with an estimated 20% of the World's population expected to 60 or over by 2050.
For those interested in attending, more information can be found on the Big Local Central Jarrow Facebook page
