Open-top bus parade for Hebburn Town: Details revealed for belated Wembley victory celebrations after FA Vase win
Hebburn Town have confirmed they are to celebrate their FA Vase final win with an open-top bus parade and a family fun day.
Covid-19 restrictions put a block on any plans to celebrate with the town – but that will all change on Sunday, July 4, when manager Kevin Bolam and his players take part in a day of celebration.
A busy day will get underway at Hebburn Central at 11am as delegation of first team staff, players, officials and their families will be received at reception hosted by the Mayor of South Tyneside Councillor Pat Hay.
The delegation will then board the open-top bus and parade the Vase along Station Road, Victoria Park West and towards the Green Energy Sports Ground.
Players, coaches and club staff will then make their way on to the VIP balcony and present the trophy to those in attendance.
A family fun day is to be ran in conjunction with Hebburn Sports Club with fair rides, food vans and drinks available at the home of the Hornets.
Stephen Rutherford, director of football at the club, said: “It seems like we’ve waited a long time to have this date finalised due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but we are so pleased we can have this experience and share it with the towns community and all our fans.
“I encourage all of the town to come out and celebrate and enjoy the occasion.
“It possibly could be just the tonic everyone needs after an awful 16 months.
“As a club we pride ourselves on our community links and we hope our community feel a sense of pride for the success we have achieved on a national stage.”
Wristbands for unlimited access for the funfair element of the day are available at Hebburn Sports Club before the day for £10 or can be purchased on the day for £15.
The club has also reminded supporters that social distancing regulations will remain in place at the event and along the route of the open-top bus parade and encouraged those in attendance to bring their own picnic blankets and pop-up chairs.
