SOUTH Shields reality star Marnie Simpson has lost weight after Twitter trolls dubbed her “the fat lass” of Geordie Shore.
The 22-year-old lost 17lbs in a month after being spurred on by her fellow cast members’ weight loss.
Fellow Geordies Charlotte Crosby and Holly Hagan have shed almost six stone between them recently, and Vicky Pattison also lost weight and released a fitness DVD after seeing unflattering pictures of herself in a bikini.
Charlotte has also just released a DVD to spur others on to lose weight.
Since being branded the “fat one” of the MTV show, which follows a group of Geordies as they party in Newcastle, Marnie has dropped from 9st 10lbs to 8st 7lbs.
She had put weight during the filming of the new series of the hit show.
Marnie said: “The new series was party central – I was eating all the wrong things and pigging out on kebabs at 2am.
“We were boozing virtually every night and that is never good for your figure.
“They have a ‘goodie drawer’ packed with fattening snacks like strawberry laces and Haribos which we’re always raiding to keep our energy levels up while filming into the early hours.
“A lot of people started to pick up on my weight on Twitter and say some really hurtful comments.
“I remember one person said, ‘You used to be the skinniest and now you’re the fattest.’
“Another said, ‘Your face is huge’ because when I do pile on the pounds it always shows up really quickly on my face in the shape of a double chin.
“There were also lots of comments about being be the ‘fat one’ in the show and the ‘fat lass.’
“I’d be lying if I said those comments didn’t really hurt – you try to ignore them but it is impossible.”
The abuse was all the more painful because Marnie was being compared unfavourably to her co-stars Charlotte and Holly.
Charlotte, 24, lost 2st 7lbs after previously complaining that she was ‘not good at exercise’ – going down from a size 16 to a size 8 in just six months.
And Holly, 22, shed 3st, slimming down from a size 16 to size 10 – and achieving her dream weight of 9st 10lbs.
Both girls’ slimming achievements just added to Marnie’s insecurities and made her determined to turn her life around.
The former waitress began working out every day with trainer to the stars Ian Guildford who got her on a new low fat diet with no red meat and dairy products and lots of grilled chicken and fish.
He recommended that she start taking Forza Supplements’ Multivitamin for Dieters - a new product for woman on low calorie diets which ensures they get all the necessary nutrients.
Marnie said: “I could quickly see my body shape changing and this gave me added confidence.
“Now I can’t wait to show off my new body to Charlotte and Holly. I’ve proved they’re not the only Geordie Shore lasses who can turn things around.”
Marnie, who lives with her mum and stepdad in South Shields, has a big impact in the new series of Geordie Shore - her fourth - when viewers will meet a new boyfriend, Dan Slone, 24, a builder.
