The search is on for the star of a film set to be shot in South Shields.

Meet Me At The Marsden Grotto is a love story that spans more than 50 years and is inspired by a true tale.

It follows Gustav, a former German fighter pilot, who was captured in the North East during the Second World War and taken as a prisoner of war.

He returns to the region 50 years after being separated from his true love, Pearl, a local Geordie girl whom he shared a summer of love with at the perimeter fence.

The film-makers are looking for a local girl, with a playing age of 18 to 21, to portray Pearl in the movie.

The character is described as feisty and adventurous, with a zest for life that has not yet been tainted by the horrors of war.

It is a professional role and applicants must be aged 18 or over. No experience is required.
