Police called after man 'intimidates woman and children' on South Shields street

Officers were called to reports a man had approached a woman and her children at a bus stop and began shouting and swearing.

Northumbria Police were called to a report of a man ‘acting suspiciously’ in Westoe Road, South Shields, on Saturday, March 7.

He allegedly approached a woman and her children in an ‘intimidating manner’ although nobody was injured during the incident.

A force spokesperson said: “Shortly after 4.45pm on Saturday (March 7) we received a report of a male acting suspiciously on Westoe Road, South Shields.

“It was reported that a man had approached a woman and her children at a bus stop and was behaving in an intimidating manner by shouting and swearing.

“Police attended and spoke to a man who matched the caller’s description. Nobody was injured and officers were satisfied that no criminal offences had been committed.”
