Mystery continues over man found unconscious at the side of a road in Jarrow

Mystery still surrounds how a man ended up unconscious at the side of a road in South Tyneside.

Police were called to Grange Road in Jarrow just before 7am on Wednesday after being called to the area by an ambulance crew.

A 53-year-old man was found seriously injured and was taken to a hospital in Newcastle.

A police spokesman said: “Inquiries are still ongoing to establish how the man sustained these injuries.”
