South Shields FC player Warren Byrne is set to appear on a national TV show this weekend after his remarkable goal went viral.

The 33-year-old's stunning volley in Saturday's win at Tow Law Town has had more than 3.5million views online.

Byrne's goal has been shown by broadcasters across the globe, and has now attracted the attention of Saturday morning Sky Sports show Soccer AM.

The striker has been invited to London to appear on the show, which is on at 10am on Sky Sports 1 and Sky One.

After hearing about the news, Byrne posted on Twitter: "Can't believe I've been invited down to this Saturday's Soccer AM show. Unbelievable Jeff #wowsers"

The strike saw Byrne flick the ball up with his right foot, flick it over his head and then volley into the opposite corner with a stunning hit.

It was his 29th goal of the season, and the latest in a line of spectacular strikes this term from Byrne, who is from Shildon, County Durham.
