Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy has ‘improved a lot’ at Sheffield Wednesday, according to boss Garry Monk.

And the manager points to a shift in attitude for the loan man’s recent emergence at Hillsborough, where Murphy won player of the month for February.

Speaking prior to Wednesday’s Championship clash with Nottingham Forest, former Leeds United and Middlesbrough man Monk said: "I think he's improved, improved a lot.

“He's definitely improved a lot and there's still a long way to in terms of the football and mental side of it but his attitude has improved.

“He's been a joy to work with."

Newcastle fan Murphy was signed by Rafa Benitez in the summer of 2017 in a £10million move from Norwich City.

Murphy, out of contract next summer, has made 30 appearances for Wednesday this season, scoring five times and creating two further goals.
