Revealed! Newcastle's new No9 announced ahead of Fulham season-opener

The summer signing has taken the revered jersey from departed striker Papiss Cisse ahead of tomorrow night's season-opener against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Aleksandar Mitrovic had been the other candiate for the shirt.

Winger Matt Ritchie has been given the No11, while defenders Ciaran Clark, Grant Hanley and Jesus Gamez have taken on No2, No5 and No27 jerseys respectively.

Goalkeeper Matz Sels has been given the No28 shirt, whilemidfielder Isaac Hayden has been confirmed as United's No14.

Mohamed Diame, another of the club's summer signings, is yet to be issued with a squad number.

New captain Jamaal Lascelles has been handed a new No6 squad number.
