Sensation will be celebrating 50 years of The Who when it comes to the Customs House, on Sunday, June 19.

The show, from those behind the London run of musical Tommy, aims to take fans at the Mill Dam venue on a musical journey through the greatest hits of the British rock band, including My Generation and The Real Me.

Producer Guy James said: “We have all been big The Who fans and last year we produced the musical Tommy in London.

“Kevin Oliver Jones, the musical director, came up with the idea of doing a show based on the best of The Who. So we auditioned and found some fantastic vocalists, Leanne Jarvis and Mitch Miller, who both appeared on The Voice, and seasoned rockers Damien Edwards and Pete Eldridge. These guys can really sing. Add in a great live band and you are guaranteed a rocking night.”

Kevin added: “The Who are still going strong after 50 years. These were my favourite times musically and creatively – before auto tune and the X Factor. A testament to how good The Who’s music is, is that it is still being played today.

“A time when bands were bands and songs were written to be played live rather than to get a Christmas number one. The Who’s music gets your feet tapping from the first beat.

“We play the music as honestly as we can. Tribute can be a dirty word at the moment in the UK, which is why we decided to steer clear of impersonations, although Sensation has just been nominated in the best Tribute Awards. With Sensation we went for the best singers we could find with the rockiest band. The show is filled with the best of The Who – all the great songs plus a bonus of Tommy and Quodrophenia.”

Tickets for the 7.30pm show cost £18 or £16 for an early bird ticket.

To book, go to www.customshouse.co.uk or call the box office on 0191 454 1234.
