Thousands got their Christmas shopping wrapped up at South Shields’ first outdoor festive market on Saturday, December 7.
Jarrow businesswoman, Carol Gibson teamed up with Josh Trueman of JT Workshops and market manager David Amess to put on the event as part of a campaign to breathe new life back into a once-thriving South Shields market.
There were over 70 traders on the day selling a variety of goods and gifts, from freshly baked bread and gourmet sauces to handcrafted jewellery, candles and home wares.
Organisers of the event will be holding six more markets in the new year, with many of these traders expected to return after their sell-out success on Saturday.
Here’s a few things you could find in Market Place.
