Alnwick Garden has issued an alert after conartists pretended to be the attraction in a bid to trick people out of banking details.

The Northumberland attraction has given advice to visitors following concerns raised someone online was pretending to be the organisation after it set up a prize giveaway.

It said: “We have received reports that since our latest competition went live, scammers are impersonating our page and asking for customers’ bank details.

“We will never ask for personal information over Messenger and ask that you pre-book your visit online via our website.

“If you receive a friend request from a page claiming to be us, do not accept.

"You can always check if a Facebook Page is authentic by looking out for the little blue tick which we have as a verified account.

“You will only be contacted about this competition if you are one of our winners on Monday, April 5.

“We are sorry for any inconvenience caused-stay safe.”
