The club’s Facebook page today, Wednesday, September 9, said: “The club can confirm that the person who tested positive for Covid was a member of staff who worked on Friday evening and worked on Sunday evening when they started to feel poorly.

"That person is now self-isolating in line with the guidelines and everyone at the club wishes them a speedy recovery.

“NHS track and trace are aware and will contact people where they see fit.

"The club has followed all necessary guidelines and more and will be making no further comment on the situation.

“Thanks for your understanding.”

It said it has hired the services of a professional deep cleaning company, which would be doing a sweep of the premises tomorrow, so would remain closed until Friday morning.

It added: “We must make sure that we can be confident the club is a safe environment for our staff, members and guests.”

The business said it had been in discussion with the council and relevant parties as it worked to establish facts and the next steps to take.
